- Ancestry.com ($) : Search all U.S. census’s, family trees, newspapers, SSDI,etc.
- Godfrey.Org ($) : This database of state and country resources includes census images and other useful databases.

Military
- www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/ : National Park Systems Civil War Soldiers and Sailors database. Look up a civil war ancestor and you can also look up information on their regiment.
- www.archives.gov : National Archives website with access to military records. Order civil war records online or look at WWII casualty lists.
- American Battle Monuments Commission: They take care of veteran’s cemeteries overseas and the website has a listing of soldiers buried in those cemeteries, http://www.abmc.gov/home.php.
